WHAT'S IN A NAME
We might have heard of brands such as Volkswagen,Nike,Audi,Coca-Cola etc.., but do you know from where these names were derived.Here are some of the intersting facts about some of the famous brand names.
1. COCA-COLA
The name derived from Coca leaves and Kola nuts used as flavouring.Founder John S. Pemberton changed the "K" of Kola to "C".
2.NIKE
The name came from Greek Goddess of Victory.The Swoosh symbolises her flight.
3.ADOBE
The name came from the Adobe creek that ran behind the house of co-founder John Warnock.
4.PEPSI
From a digestive enzyme named Pepsin.
5.VOLKSWAGEN
It means "Peoples Car" in German.
6.AUDI
Founder August Horch found a name by transalating his name which means "Hark!" "Listen",into Latin.The 4rings of Audi represent auto union of Audi with DKW,Horch & Wanderer.
7.NIKON
Shortened version of NIPPON KOGAKU, which means "Japanese Optical".
8. SKYPE
Original concept was sky-Peer-to-Peer which morphed into Skyper,then Skype.
